Univ of Sunderland APT&C Staff Handbook: ch32. ALLOWANCE FOR PERFORMING FIRST AID DUTIES

32. ALLOWANCE FOR PERFORMING FIRST AID DUTIES

Suitably qualified staff who are appointed by their Director of School/Head of Service to perform first aid duties at any of the University's premises shall receive an ex-gratia (taxable) payment, payable yearly in arrears, of £100.

Whilst any Health and Safety Executive externally approved first aid training providers courses would normally be acceptable, the University currently use the British Red Cross Society for their first-aid training.

Designated first-aid staff are required to ensure adequate replenishment of first aid stock and this should, as a general guide, be undertaken at least every month. They are expected to administer first-aid treatment not only for minor occurrences, but should also be able to provide for all eventualities including emergency situations.

They should also ensure that all incidents are reported and a record kept in accordance with the University accident reporting policy.
