SECTION 6 - MISCELLANEOUS

31. DEATH WHILST IN UNIVERSITY SERVICE

In the event of death whilst in the service of the University of a permanent or temporary employee, no claim will be made against such an employees estate in respect of:-

i. Any overpayment of wage/salary arising from any pay period or periods remaining following that employee's date of decease.

ii. Any National Insurance sickness benefits received by the employee concerned for which, at the date of decease, no deduction from wage or salary has been made.

Death in Service Superannuation Benefits for superannuated employees of the University will be administered by the Tyne and Wear County superannuation Fund (TWCSF) at South Tyneside Metropolitan Borough Council, Westoe Road, South Shields.

Payment of Benefit will be made to the employee injured or in the case of Death to his/her estate (to be dealt with in accordance with his/her Will or on Intestacy)

The Personnel Department can advise on any such benefits.
